Committees.

  • Membership.

    The Membership Committee develops programs, events and communications focused on attracting, retaining, and developing chapter membership.

  • Scholarship.

    The Scholarship Committee coordinates the annual chapter scholarship program and awards to be offered to members. The committee accepts, reviews, and recommends scholarship recipients.

  • Audit.

    The Audit Committee is responsible for creating business processes and procedures for the chapter, including reviewing board activities, and budgetary and administrative review.

  • Training and Development.

    The Training and Development Committee schedules, and organizes training events for general membership meetings, and symposium/certification trainings, as well as creates opportunities for career development resources for members.

  • Sponsorship.

    The Sponsorship Committee serves as direct liaison to sponsors and vendors that financially support the chapter.

  • Awards.

    The Awards Committee coordinate the annual chapter awards program, communicating to membership and reviewing and recommending awardees. Awards include Employee of the Year, Manager of the Year, Municipality of the Year, and Business/Vendor of the Year awards.

  • State Road-E-O.

    The State Road-E-O Committee is responsible for planning and implementing the chapter’s official state road-e-o competition event.

  • Safety.

    The Safety Committee develops safety related programs, communications, events focused on industry safety trends and best practices. . A background in safety is required.

  • Technology.

    The Technology Committee focuses on the trends, topics and future of the industry focused on latest technological advancements in terms of equipment, diversion, routing, and collection.

  • Golf Tournament.

    The Golf Tournament Committee is responsible for coordinating golf tournament events, including selecting the physical location, securing the date, recruiting sponsors, organizing the tournament schedule, and determining food and beverages.

  • Symposium/Vendor Show.

    The Vendor Show is an event that brings together vendors from the solid waste and recycling industry in Arizona with AZ SWANA members, and allows these vendors to set up booths and/or to display and discuss their latest products and services. This activity can include training and development programs, and may include breakfast or lunch options, and other networking opportunities for the membership.

  • Sustainability.

    The Sustainability Committee develops objectives for engaging stakeholders, residents and members by identifying opportunities for education and outreach on sustainable practices. This committee can collaborate with the Training and Symposium/Vendor Show committees to integrate sustainable presentations and education topics to these events.

  • Nominating.

    The Nominating Committee, lead by the board’s Past-President, is responsible for seeking nominations of interested members to serve on the board. The committee reviews and recommends board nominations for approval.
